Halls' first LP Ark is the soundtrack to desolation

Listening to Halls' first LP Ark can take you down one deep emotional spiral.  It's dark, moody and heartbreaking at the same time. I'm seriously surprised this wasn't constructed for some depressing movie about love and loss.  The songs flow together perfectly to create a mood you struggle to shake from after the first listen.  There's definite similarities between his work and that of James Blake and How to Dress Well.  I think if anything, he has a future in scoring films.

"Roses For The Dead" was the first song I heard from Halls.  This song does a good job of capturing the mood and strength of his music.  It makes me think of a dark rain drenched day during winter. I really like his use of the quiet moments in the song to make the mood resonate.

"White Chalk" is the latest video posted for the album Ark.  The piano at the beginning is extremely haunting and then the chorus adds to that mood.  A great piece of music.
